Huawei on last Monday launched the upgraded version of the old pal Huawei Ascend Mate phablet. This launch took place at the CES 2014 event. Being called as Ascend Mate 2 4G, the phablet bears the same 6.1inch HD LCD screen with IPS technology as its predecessor. However in terms of other specs and configuration, Ascend Mate 2 4G is definitely upgraded version.
The newer Huawei Ascend Mate’s price is still not disclosed and there are no words on the availability of the phablet as well. It is being termed to be coming with Android 4.3 out of the box and thus is pretty much assumable that it will getting the Android v4.4 upgraded rolling out sooner or later. The only thing mentioned about Ascend Mate 2 4G was that this will unlike its predecessor be available in the US, apart from 40 other markets.

Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G comes packed up with a 1.6GHz quad-core processor with Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 chipset. It also features an Adreno 306 GPU (Graphics Processor Unit) along with 2GB of RAM. Android 4.3 is customized via layering it by Huawei’s Emotion UI 2.0 skin on the top.
Ascend Mate 2 4G features a 13MP autofocus camera with HDR feature. It also comes with a 5MP front camera. Talking about new Ascend Mate’s internal memory, it comes with 16GB of inbuilt memory which is double the previous model.
Ascend Mate 2 compared to the previous Ascend Mate is slightly thinner, a bit heavier, and is LTE capable with up to 150mbps download speed and up to 50mbps upload speed. Though Huawei Ascend Mate features the same 4,050mAh battery but if company’s words are to be believed, this time it would be accounting of 2 days battery backup. A reverse charging feature has also been included which lets you charge other devices from Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G phablet.
